mind the gap

22 August 2005

I miss my dog.

It's been raining non-stop today and considering it's August, it would be nice if it was actually warm! I'm sitting here in sweats and a fleece. I don't know why I even bothered to bring shorts with me when I moved here. I think I've worn them twice in 13 months.

I spent Saturday getting checked out of my flat (and I'll be getting my whole £1260 deposit back). I did love living there and it really felt like home. When we were done with all the papers, etc, I went upstairs and had a coffee with Jack and Zane. We made plans to have dinner next month and then I headed over to Laura's. I stayed the night there and when Marco got home, we went across the street to a BBQ at their friend's house. On Sunday, we went to the library at school to work on our papers. I got done with my school development paper so tomorrow when I turn it in with my dissertation, I will be officially done with my coursework for my MA. It's a weird feeling to be done but it feels good too. I'm relieved and am proud of my accomplishments over the last year.

I got home about 7pm last night and thought Housemate would be gone until Monday but he arrived home last night as well. He didn't object to me moving the lounge furniture around this morning. I read a book for a while and picked his brain today about school, the first few days, etc. I also unpacked most of my clothes and put them in the wardrobe because my room won't be finished until the end of the week.

Tomorrow I'm meeting Sandra and Ruffina for lunch at the uni and turning in my papers. Wednesday I have to drive down to Woking to meet Sherry and pick up the car from her. Thursday is the return of GCSE results and everyone will be down at school so I've got to go down there and start getting organized, finding my room and looking over my teaching timetable and my schedule for novels. Friday I should be able to move into my room and finally get unpacked. This is how life is going to be now.. busy and full. I've had a long time to do what I wanted and while I didn't always make the best use of my time, I enjoyed being unemployed and back in school.

And yes, I'm already looking forward to half term in October.
