mind the gap

12 August 2005

I think what I thought was a cold is really allergies. I've sneezed a dozen times today and have had a runny nose that comes and goes.

It's been a busy few days. I feel like I've hardly been home! On Wednesday, I went to dinner with Liane, her visiting friend from Boston and Liane's roommate Alicia. Now Alicia is a cool girl, really funny and down to earth. The friend from Boston was everything I hate about Americans rolled into one person. She was LOUD, picky about the food she ordered (Can I have that on the side??) and talked about herself incessantly (No, I don't really care about your wedding plans). They were going to the Savoy after dinner for more drinks but I bowed out. I was tired of the nasal accent. The food was excellent though. I would definitely go back, even though our waiter was an idiot.

Last night, we had a going-away-do for me upstairs with the boys downstairs, Jack and Zane. It was nice to visit, drink good wine and eat good food with friends. I will miss living in this building. My neighbours have been good to me, inviting me to dinner, watching out for me, taking care of my flat while I was gone. I can only hope to have neighbours like this when I move. Jam Master DJ apologized profusely for keeping me up on Sunday night when I resorted to my first and only stomping on the floor to get them to shut up tempter tantrum. Anyway, needless to say, I'm a bit hungover this morning but my headache is fading. I had a ferocious headache last night before bed but with the help of a bit of meditation, it faded enough that I could sleep.

I have to finish packing my flat. Jack was kind enough to give me 4 more boxes so I'm not so worried about running out. Off to pack up my stash of bathroom stuff...
