24 August 2005 I'm the proud owner of a used Lexus. It's a lovely car and doesn't feel like it's mine yet. That'll come in time, like when I can recognize it in the parking lot.I took the train to Liverpool Street, changed to the Tube for the jaunt down to Waterloo. I hopped a train at Waterloo down to Woking where Sherry picked me up. I think I was there about 30 minutes, after taking over 2 hours to get down there. They invited me to stay but I just wasn't up for it. Sherry and her husband are lovely but they've been staying with her father-in-law for the last few weeks and they're leaving for Nevada tomorrow. The house is typical old man, a bit grotty, carpeted bathroom with a tub that was full of old man stuff. The TV was blaring the British version of "The Price is Right" and considering my loathing of game shows and stale cigarette smoke, I was not excited to stay for their family's last meal. I thanked them for the deal on the car, wished them a safe journey home and got on the road. The drive home was boring really, just rainy and typical M25 traffic. The painter finished up my room but I won't move into it until the site manager gets someone over here to move the furniture back in. The wardrobe is heavy and Housemate wasn't thrilled with the idea of helping me. If I was alone, I'd just move it myself and get on with it but he said to wait and have someone else do it. I hope they get on it soon. I'm ready to unpack my stuff and get settled properly. The new paint is lovely though and it's so nice to have clean walls. SkyTV will be hooked up tomorrow and we've somehow got to juggle being home when we both need to be at work for part of the day. Housemate will go in first and then I'll go, unless CableGuy can't come until the afternoon. I'm ready to get back into the land of satellite tv. I'm a spoilt brat like that. Tomorrow I will drive to work, simply because I CAN! |
