mind the gap

07 September 2005

I started work on Monday, school started on Tuesday. So far, my students have been a pretty good group. I've got a few pains in the butt but that is to be expected.

I've been a bad blogger of late because I've been swamped. Saturday morning, my FLR was denied by the Home Office because my uni's letter stating I was finished with my coursework didn't say I'd 'successfully completed'. I spent a panicked evening on the phone with an immigration advisor I know and he said to get my school to petition for me and see if they'd change it. I got the office manager to call the case worker and he said if I could get a new letter from my uni, then he might be able to change it so I don't have to reapply AND pay £335 again. I'm afraid I'll end up paying again and get it sorted after my marks come in from my uni.

I keep forgetting to report the fender bender from Friday and so far, haven't heard from my insurance company. We'll see if the cops come around to arrest me. Ha! That guy was so irate. I'd welcome the police involvement so I don't have to worry about him bothering me again.

I got my deposit check back from my old landlord which was good because I'm down to about £35 in my bank account. I also told Frank to pay me back the money I loaned him because I'm tired of hearing about him taking off for these weekend trips (and not coming to see me) all the while owing me money. Things aren't great with us right now but that's ok. I'm busy with school, new friends, colleagues, lesson planning and sleep. He can suck it.
