mind the gap

It's amazing the stuff you can find online about people. And thanks to the Freedom of Information Act.

The whole grandfather's estate thing is blowing up. We filed a petition with the court today after we discovered that F has refinanced the line of credit on the property, while in the midst of negotiating a settlement. My dad gave me carte blanche to gather all the information I could about F and her deadbeat kids. So I've got a pile of paper here from the county clerk's office in SD about her daughter's property. We're hoping we can find a link between her refinance and her daughter's purchase of a condo.

But the best part! Today, F's attorney was notified of the petition and her creepy daughter has been calling our house and my dad's brothers, claiming her mother is going to be out on the street. Blah, blah blah. When my grandfather died, there was over $300,000 in cash. Within 8 days of his death, she'd withdrawn $76,000. Sorry, the pity train has left the station. She's gone through nearly $300,000 and has the audacity to claim she needs an additional $30,000 for a new car and dental work. Yeah, I can take care of her dental work with a hammer and pliers. And as far as her car is concerned, she better get comfortable because as far as I can tell, she may be sleeping in it. The DA has taken our case as well and may be pressing charges against her for 3 felonies: grand theft, embezzlement and fraud. Couldn't happen to a nice brawd.

I don't get really, really mad at a whole lot but this makes my blood boil. This woman has done nothing but hurt our family from the time she married my grandfather. She has insulted several people directly, using derogatory slurs and spreading vicious gossip amongst members of our family to make herself look bedtter. She has stolen my grandparents' estate, part of which was intended as an inheritance for their children. And she has the nerve, the unmitigated gall to ask for $30,000 and plead poverty. Sorry, but my grandfather made sure there was more than enough money to support her over the course of her lifetime. It's no one's fault but her own if there's no more money and she doesn't want to abide by a trust document that SHE SIGNED in 1994. She's too stupid to fully understand that she can't just do what she wants with no accountability.

I might have stumbled upon a second career as a PI. It's fun to snoop on people. Well, it's fun to snoop on F's family. One of her daughters had a tax lien placed on her property for defaulting on state income taxes. Losers, the whole lot of them.

And now for something more pleasant... Christmas, 2002
