mind the gap

26 July 2007

I went to school this morning for an informal sit-down with my new principal. He seems a straight shooter but honestly, until I figure out who's who and what's what, I'm reserving my judgement. Right now, I like him but I hardly know him. So, yeah.

He let me see my classroom and oh. my. It needs work. I don't have a desk, chair, filing cabinets or any cabinets at all, and only 10 student desks. Oh, and a table with a broken leg. Apparently they didn't know until yesterday which room I was going to be in and nothing has been cleaned or prepared. So I have to wait a few more days before I can start moving in. I'll have 1st period prep, 4 classes of freshmen and 1 class of CAHSEE prep for juniors and seniors who've yet to pass. That class will be 6th period and right now I feel like saying, "Gee, thanks for that!" because who wants to end the day like that? Hopefully it'll be better than ending it with freshmen.

I'm wiped out today because I stayed over at C&A's until like 1:45am. I swear I lose all track of time when I'm hanging out with them. It's still like it was when we lived next door to each other only now they have kids. No more jumping in the car to drive around looking at houses at 10:30pm. But that's ok... it was fun to just sit and visit.

I think I'll be in bed early tonight.
