mind the gap

13 January 2006

Yesterday, I went into London to go shopping. I wanted to do something productive for the day so I got up early and went to Portobello Market. I bought some antique cream jugs while I was there and sat in a cafe to eat lunch. It was cold and quiet but a nice way to spend the morning. I decided at some point to go to Westminster Abbey to the gift shop and look around. I found 2 Christmas ornaments and some CDs to give away for Christmas gifts next year. And then I just started walking. I went from the abbey up Whitehall, all the way to Trafalgar Square where I popped into the National Gallery for more shopping. I also took some pictures with my new digital camera which I LOVE.
When I got home, DEADTOME was here but Spiderman wasn't. Tension, anyone? Served with a side of Bitterness? So DEADTOME asks me when I'm planning on leaving and I said the end of the month. WHY, in a hurry to get rid of me? He didn't answer that bit but said that someone else is waiting to move into my room, a new guy who was hired to replace someone who went out on medical leave. He then informs me that the school (which is not my landlord) will be sending me a notice that I'm to move out. Well, they can't legally do that because while I'm in key worker housing, my lease says nothing about my residency being tied to employment. AND my lease is up in mid-February anyway. He says, 'Well, you're not supposed to be living here anyway.' To which I was too dumbfounded to respond. I spent the evening in a panic, wondering how the hell I would sort this mess out, where I would stay while still trying to get rid of my belongings.
This morning, I rang the school where Spiderman works and talked to the landlord. He said it wasn't a problem if I stayed until the 31st, and if I needed to stay past then, no worries because the new guy was going to stay in the caretaker's flat until I was gone. HA! FUCK YOU DEADTOME. Never have I loathed a housemate more than I do him. Well, maybe the nutter I lived with my senior year at Chico but since then, nope.

I'm home alone now tonight with several items listed on ebay now. I've got bids on 3 of my 8 things so far and hopefully I'll get them all sold off. I also arranged for the movers to come and take my things back to CA. It was an eventful day and I haven't even left the house!
