mind the gap

22 July 2005

I'm not one of those 'Don't be afraid or the terrorists win' types. This isn't a contest or a game. After yesterday, I can freely admit to being jumpy about using public transit. I love London. I love living here. I love the history, the vibe, the people. But going about my regular business could very well be dangerous or fatal. Personally, I'm not a target but the vehicles I use to navigate the city are. I could easily be at the wrong place at the wrong time. That's the reality of this situation. I'd prefer to drive everywhere but that's not practical. Walking everywhere isn't practical either.

I don't want to leave this place; I found a way to stay. I don't want to be afraid; I will find a way back to normalcy. I will take the bus again. I will take the Tube again. I may need a Valium drip with a Xanax chaser but I'll do it.
