mind the gap

This pic was from our weekend at Dover.

This weekend, we spent the weekend at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.( http://www.goodwood.co.uk/fos/ ) I had no idea what to expect but it was really quite fun. Of course, it helps to go with a complete motorhead who drools over anything with an engine that has more than 10 horsepower. He took over 500 pictures and I got a nice tan. We stayed at a nice B&B about 25 minutes from the track. The trip wouldn't be complete without a wee bit of car trouble though.
The 'Fezza' decided to overheat when we were about 20 mins from the hotel. This meant a call to the RAC because the radiator hose split. 2 HOURS later, they showed up and patched the hose. Off we went, found the hotel, dropped off our stuff and headed for the track. We got there about 4, very late and just in time for the heavens to open and it to chuck down rain. Had a nice dinner at a gastro pub and went back to the room to watch 'Alien'. NEVER AGAIN. I woke up crying during the night because I was so freaked out.
Saturday was better weather, still cool and windy but no rain. We hiked all over the track area, saw rally cars, F1, supercars, touring cars, all the things I know nothing about. But he was enjoying himself.
Sunday we got up early and went for the final day of the festival. The weather was gorgeous and it was really crowded everywhere. We left about 4:30 and didn't get back to my flat until 8:30. About 20 minutes after he left my house, the Fezza had enough and the radiator gave out. He didn't get back to Derby until 12:30!
I have a parents' night at my new school tonight. I have no idea what to expect. It should be interesting though! I spent the day with Laura and the baby yesterday. He's so sweet... and I made sure to remind him several times that I'm his favourite auntie. We won't tell any of his other aunties though.
