mind the gap

23 December 2005

Ok, so the festivities don't technically begin until tomorrow evening but at our house, we like to drag parties out for several days. My mom's family is coming for dinner tonight where we will eat, open presents, have dessert and have to listen to my aunt complain that their million dollar house (that they paid CASH for) isn't ready to move into yet. Why 4 people need 3500 sq. feet is beyond me. But they have money and she likes to spend it.

Tomorrow, I'll catch up with Heather at some point and then my grandparents will come for dinner after church. Oh, and my sister is coming home today too.

THEN, on Christmas morning, it'll be just us to open gifts (including the big HUGE one sitting next to me in the sunroom) and then my dad's family will turn up for dinner about 1. That'll be one long day of bitching about F and how we're hoping to run her off the family property, disposing of the body in unknown locations.

My trip to see Disa was good. Willows sucks but she's good. I wrote a long time ago about her getting married but she called off the wedding and so she's just a fun single gal like me again. We had good food, good conversation, fun annoying her cat (KITTY!!) and staying up way too late.

For the moment, I'm home alone for the first time all week. It won't last. Soon the relatives will descend. And OHMAN I spoke too soon as my mother just pulls into the drive.

Enjoy your holiday and this time of the year. Be kind, slow down and relish every second of being with the ones you love.
